  • Antique Thai Style Bronze Standing 4-Arm Ganesha Statue - 21cm/8"

    Measures (Height) 21cm/8"

An expressively cast Antique Thai style bronze standing 4-arm Ganesha seated over a circular pedestal embellished with a mouse.

The elephant-headed god is wearing a short dhoti with crossed cloth around his portly waist

The distinctive patina of the piece is particularly delightful. Ganesha is the elephant headed son of Shiva.

Here, Ganesha holds his trident and a noose in his hands.

The trident's primary association is with the destruction of evil and ignorance. By holding the trident, Ganesha embodies the power to remove obstacles not just in the physical world but also in the spiritual and intellectual realms. It signifies his ability to destroy ignorance and lead his devotees to wisdom and enlightenment.

Whilst an elephant-headed deity wielding a rope or lasso may inspire images of a belligerent warhead, rest assured this item represents something far more encouraging. Instead, this instrument is rooted in metaphor and promotes the idea that we should cut away the obstacles before us. In destroying our vices and obstacles, be they certain hurdles in our lives or more abstract feelings such as jealousy and anger, we can source new beginnings and cultivate a new approach to the things that have been worrying us.

Ganesha is often found playing a musical instrument. Similar to Krishna Ganesha celebrates life through it's pleasures and beauty. The direction of Ganesha's trunk has symbolic meaning. Here the trunk turns to Ganesha's left. This signifies the direction for success in the world. It is a position associated with grihastas, or householders.

In his early forms in India, Ganesha was associated with fertility. Later he became widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles, patron of arts and sciences and the deity of intellect and wisdom. One of the most recognizable of the Asian deities this representation of Ganesha is sure to enlighten your home with endlessly timeless style.

Let Us Help You Find The Piece You Desire

It is an amazing "museum quality" antique bronze!!! For a 19th century bronze antique, I believe the Newark, NJ Museum may express interest if I show them. However, they will never get it and I will have it in my collection for posterity. We will be doing much more business in the foreseeable future, count on it!!!

The Buddha statues have arrived, safe and sound thank to your professional packaging and everything else. I am so impressed and certainly will be back again to purchase more from you. My warmest thanks and appreciation.

Truong, Toronto, Canada

Thank you so very much! Well, I needed Buddha here -- and I certainly now have Buddha here in many ways and many forms -- with thanks to HDAsianArt. Each statue you've sent has worked out very well -- each in its own way -- each combined in settings with other art pieces -- each has blended well -- finishing off different areas of my home -- and all communicates well to tell a story of different aspects of my life. I intentionally chose your pieces -- to get away from the "norm" of beautiful gild Buddhas that everyone has -- your pieces are quite unique -- and a bit more "real" -- which serves my purpose well. So, thank you.
