A bronze Indonesian (Java) Protection Buddha in 13th century Majapahit style.
The Buddha is stood samabhanga on a round lotus petal base which is itself stood upon a simple pedestal.
The Buddha's hands face outwards in the Abhaya mudra. The Abhaya mudra "gesture of fearlessness" is a mudra (gesture) that offers protection, reassurance and safety. Dispelling fear and according divine protection and bliss in many Indian religions. His hands are held upright, with the palms facing outwards. This is one of the earliest mudras found depicted on a number of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain images.
The robe of Buddha is draped over his left shoulder, and a portion of the garment that covers the left wrist falls behind the figure. The lower hem of the robe comes all the way down so that the under-cloth or skirt is completely covered.
A lotus flower rimmed aureole sits behind the head of the Buddha. This circle of light symbolises his divinity.
He has a third eye or urna on his forehead symbolizing the ability of Buddha to see past our mundane universe of suffering.

Large and/or fragile pieces requiring palletising, specialist crating and/or extra packaging may take a little longer. Palletised shipments will be delivered curbside.
All orders over 35 GBP will be shipped free of charge. -
