Each Buddha is seated on the limbs of the sacred Bodhi Tree, in the Dhyana mudra—the classic meditation gesture with hands resting in the lap, palms upward. This posture evokes deep contemplation, inner stillness, and unity with higher wisdom, recalling the moment of the Buddha’s own awakening.
The Bodhi Tree, also known as the Tree of Awakening, Mahabodhi Tree, or Bo Tree, is the legendary fig tree under which Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment around the 5th century BCE. Its inclusion here powerfully anchors the sculptures in the story of Buddhahood and the possibility of liberation from suffering.
Each Buddha has a peaceful, introspective countenance, with gently downcast eyes and a firm yet composed brow. A large ushnisha crowns the head, symbolising advanced spiritual development, while the elongated earlobes hark back to his princely youth, when he wore heavy gold earrings before renouncing worldly life.
The casting is lovely, with fine, crisp detailing in the facial features and hair, and a beautifully observed sense of balance and proportion. Large and/or fragile pieces requiring palletising, specialist crating and/or extra packaging may take a little longer. Palletised shipments will be delivered curbside.
