A unique and unusual antique Thai-style bronze seated Ganesha, this sculpture presents the beloved deity with great charm and symbolic depth. In Hindu tradition, Lord Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles, lord of beginnings, and guardian of wisdom and success, and this figure beautifully expresses those qualities.

The elephant-headed son of Shiva, Ganesha is depicted here seated upon a lotus leaf pedestal, the lotus symbolising purity, compassion, and the joy that arises from spiritual awakening. One hand is raised in a gesture of protection and blessing, while another holds a bowl of sweetmeats, representing the rewards of spiritual effort and the sweetness of a well-lived life. In another hand he carries an axe, an emblem not of aggression but of liberation—cutting away obstacles, attachments, and negative emotions such as jealousy and anger so that new beginnings and fresh perspectives can emerge.

The direction of Ganesha’s trunk carries particular significance in this image. Turning to his right, it points toward moksha, or spiritual liberation, making this form especially auspicious for those seeking or following a dedicated spiritual path. In his earliest Indian forms, Ganesha was linked to fertility; over time he came to be widely honoured as the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, patron of the arts and sciences, and deity of intellect and wisdom. Like Krishna, he is also associated with celebrating life’s pleasures and beauty, reminding devotees that joy and devotion can coexist.

The bronze surface bears a distinctive, attractive patina, adding warmth, character, and a sense of age to the piece. As devotees contemplate this refined portrayal, they are invited to reflect more deeply on Ganesha’s timeless teachings—embracing courage, clarity, and compassionate renewal. One of the most recognisable Asian deities, this elegant representation of Ganesha is sure to bring spiritual light and endlessly timeless style to any home or sacred space.

Oh, what a beautiful statue. She will be joined by my other Oriental statues - Buddha Kuan Yin Tara & Shiva.

...very pleased with our purchase. The photograph does not do it justice.

Victor, Belfast, Northern Ireland

...the Ganesha statue has arrived safe and sound. I must admit to being somewhat apprehensive about buying something on the net having being burned before with purchases from India, but I absolutely love it.
