Antique Khmer Bayon style Lokeshvara statue. Here Lokeshvara is sat pan-handle. A top the Lokeshvara's head can be seen a seated meditating Amitabha Buddha.
The sculpture is seated upon a simple pedestal.
His softly contoured face with indigenous characteristic has a serene downcast expression, with heavy-lidded eyes, arched eyebrows carved in relief meet in the middle above a well-shaped broad nose, and wide lips with an insipid smile are framed by a second incised line.
The head is covered in tightly braided woven hair, enhanced by a cylindrical-shaped 'Chignon' style topknot. His robes are bejewelled around the neck and arms.
The right hand holds a Kalasha. The kalasha is considered a symbol of abundance and "source of life" in the Vedas. It is referred to as "overflowing full vase" in the Vedas. The Kalasha is believed to contain amrita, the elixir of life, and thus is viewed as a symbol of abundance, wisdom, and immortality.

Large and/or fragile pieces requiring palletising, specialist crating and/or extra packaging may take a little longer. Palletised shipments will be delivered curbside.
All orders over 35 GBP will be shipped free of charge.
