Antique Thai Style Bronze Standing 4-Arm Ganesha Statue - 26cm/10"
Measures (Height) 26cm/10"
An expressively cast antique Thai-style bronze standing four-armed Ganesha.
This finely modelled sculpture depicts Ganesha, the beloved elephant‑headed son of Shiva, standing in dignified poise and wearing a long dhoti with a crossed cloth wrapped around his portly waist. The rich folds of the garment and his assured stance underline both his divine authority and his approachable, benevolent nature.
In his four hands Ganesha holds a trident, sweetmeats, a noose, and his broken tusk, each charged with symbolic meaning. The noose represents his power to capture and control negative or wayward thoughts and desires, while the broken tusk stands for sacrifice, perseverance and the triumph of wisdom over pride. The trident, most famously associated with Shiva, connects Ganesha directly to his father and symbolises the destruction of evil and ignorance. In Ganesha’s grasp, it becomes a potent emblem of his ability to remove obstacles not only in the physical world but also in the spiritual and intellectual realms, combining destruction, protection and transcendence. Its three prongs evoke key triads in Hindu philosophy—such as creation, preservation and destruction; past, present and future—highlighting Ganesha’s comprehensive role in the cosmos.
The direction of his trunk also carries special significance. Here it turns to Ganesha’s left, an auspicious orientation associated with success in worldly affairs and the life of the grihastha, or householder, making this form especially favoured by those seeking prosperity and stability in family and professional life.
In early Indian tradition, Ganesha was closely linked to fertility and abundance, but over time he became widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles, as well as patron of the arts and sciences and deity of intellect and wisdom. One of the most recognisable and beloved figures in Asian religious art, this expressive Thai‑style bronze Ganesha combines strong visual presence with profound spiritual symbolism, making it an ideal piece to bring auspicious energy and timeless style to any home, office or sacred space.
