Buddha Statue - Antique Indonesian Style Javanese Amoghasiddhi Buddha - 24cm/10"
Measures – (Height) 24cm/10”
An Indonesian (Java) Amoghasiddhi Buddha in 13th century Majapahit style.
The perfect Buddha for those looking for infallible success or the vanquishing of jealously and envy.
This magnificent Buddha is stood on a round lotus leaf pedestal, which is itself stood upon a decorated, multi-tiered square pedestal. His robe is draped to leave the right shoulder bare, and a portion of the garment that covers the left wrist falls behind the figure. The lower hem of the robe comes all the way down so that the under-cloth or skirt is completely covered.
The pedestal upon which Buddha stands forms an aureole, with flaming border, behind the head of the Buddha. This symbolises his divinity. He holds his hands in the wish-fulfilling mudra: his right hand facing down and the palm outward. The Buddha's left hand faces outwards in the abhaya mudra. The Abhaya mudra "gesture of fearlessness" is a mudra (gesture) that offers protection, reassurance and safety. Dispelling fear and according divine protection and bliss in many Indian religions. His hand is held upright, with the palm facing outwards. This is one of the earliest mudras found depicted on a number of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain images.
He also has a third eye or urna on his forehead symbolizing the ability of Buddha to see past our mundane universe of suffering.
The Amoghasiddhi Buddha represents the accomplishment of all action. His name means 'Infalliable Success". Meditation on Amoghasiddhi Buddha vanquishes envy and jealousy, two often impulsive actions.
