Antique Indian Style Dancing Bronze Brahma - Hindu God Creation - 53cm/21"
Measurements Height 53cm (21")
An antique Indian style dancing Brahma.
Brahma is the Hindu God of Creation and one of the Trimurti, the others being Vishnu and Shiva.
As the creator god, Brahma's task is to form the universe and its myriad beings. This process is elaborately detailed in various Hindu texts. In the Puranas, Brahma is described as performing a great cosmic sacrifice, using the elements of the universe as offerings to bring forth life. His day, known as a "Brahma day," lasts for 4.32 billion human years, during which he creates and recreates the cosmos in an endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth.
Here, this dancing Brahma is stood on a double lotus leaf pedestal. The lotus flower represents purity, compassion and the giving of great joy to all.
In Hindu philosophy, dance is not merely an art form but a sacred activity that symbolizes the creation of the universe. The movements of the dancing Brahma represent the dynamic process of bringing the cosmos into existence. Each step and gesture signifies the unfolding of the elements, the formation of life, and the emergence of order from chaos.
The rhythm of Brahma’s dance is a metaphor for the orderly progression of time and the cyclical nature of the universe. In many Hindu traditions, time is cyclical, marked by endless cycles of creation (Srishti), preservation (Sthiti), and destruction (Samhara). The dancing Brahma embodies this cosmic rhythm, indicating that creation is not a one-time event but a continuous, ever-renewing process.
Through his dance, Brahma reminds us of the continuous cycles of birth, growth, decay, and renewal that characterize all existence, urging us to see the divine play in the ever-changing tapestry of life.
The casting is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face and hands.
Each detail is rendered perfectly. Traditional in appearance, the sculpture will bring serenity and timeless style to your home, office or sacred space.
