An exquisite antique Java-style seated bronze sculpture of the goddess Tara, the revered Bodhisattva of Compassion in Buddhist tradition.
This piece depicts Tara Nyurma Pamo, the “Swift and Heroic Tara,” one of the 21 sacred manifestations of Tara. She embodies dynamic energy, swift action, and the power to overcome obstacles, offering both spiritual protection and inspiration.
Tara is portrayed seated gracefully in a half-lotus (Padmasana) posture, a pose that reflects balance and meditative poise. In her right hand, she holds a conch shell—an important ritual object in Buddhist tradition. The conch symbolizes the resonance of truth and the far-reaching sound of the Dharma, awakening beings from ignorance. In the hands of Tara Nyurma Pamo, it signifies her ability to swiftly cut through illusion and guide devotees toward clarity and wisdom.
Her left hand gently holds the stem of a lotus flower, which rises elegantly above her shoulder. Upon her head, Tara wears a finely detailed Javanese-style tiara set before a tall kirita-makuta (conical crown), symbolizing spiritual authority and the harmonious balance of opposing forces. This duality reflects her mastery over both positive and negative energies.
