Antique Vietnamese Style Bronze Standing Cham Four-Arm Ganesha Statue - 25cm/10"
Measures (Height) 25cm/10"(Weight) 2.8kg / 6lbs
An antique Vietnamese-style four‑armed Ganesha, the elephant‑headed son of Shiva and Parvati, rendered in a manner that reflects the sophistication of early Cham sculpture. This finely modelled image combines devotional power with subtle elegance.
Ganesha stands upon a circular lotus base, itself raised on a square, decorated pedestal guarded by animal figures, symbolising protection and auspiciousness. The lotus represents purity, spiritual awakening, and the blossoming of good fortune. The sculpture’s distinctive patina is particularly attractive, adding depth, character, and a strong sense of age.
Here, Ganesha embodies the ascetic wisdom of his father Shiva, signalled by the third eye on his forehead. In one hand he holds his broken tusk, a symbol of sacrifice and the triumph of wisdom over pride, while another hand offers a bowl of sweetmeats, representing the rewards of spiritual practice and the sweetness of life. Often shown engaged with music and festivity, like Krishna, Ganesha celebrates the joy, beauty, and fullness of worldly experience.
The direction of his trunk carries special significance: turned to Ganesha’s left, it is associated with success in worldly affairs and the life of the householder (grihastha), making this form especially auspicious for home and family life. In his earliest Indian forms, Ganesha was closely linked to fertility and abundance; over time he became universally revered as the Remover of Obstacles, Lord of Beginnings, patron of arts and sciences, and deity of intellect and wisdom.
With its harmonious proportions, rich symbolism, and graceful presence, this four‑armed Ganesha is both an evocative work of art and a powerful spiritual emblem. One of the most recognisable Asian deities, he is sure to bring auspicious energy, warmth, and timeless style to any home, office, or sacred space.
