In many ways part of the beauty of Hinduism is the universal acceptance of others’ opinions and the collective respect for alternative viewpoints. There is an understanding within Hinduism that their supreme God, or Para Brahman, is not only everywhere but inside everyone. The religious journey is all about discovering this absolute being within each individual’s soul, whichever God devotees ultimately find that to be.
The Trimurti our Hindu trinity is formed of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Each represents something very different but together create universal balance.
The Trimurti is the collective name of the Hindu Trinity, made up of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
Vishnu represents eternal life and sustains the universe as a whole. Hindu households will often have several Vishnu statues but can a Vishnu idol bring personal peace and prosperity into the home?
The most important thing when it comes to Shiva statues is understanding the energy that is best for your space. Choose wisely and go with what feels right. And, once the statue is in your home, treat him as you would any other sacred artefact. Understand all this, and you can’t go wrong.
Ganesha can generally be translated to mean ‘Lord of the People’ and is thus an immensely popular Hindu deity. He is also the ultimate multi-tasker, carrying multiple – and naturally symbolic – items in his many hands. He is said to have multiple arms, with certain items appearing frequently and others dependent on the depiction. He we explore the meaning of some of those items.
Ganesha is renowned for his ability to bring good luck and prosperity to people all over the world, as well as protection and care. Bringing him into the home in a statue-form will therefore enable you to draw on this good fortune and guidance in a place where it suits you most.
In today's blog we help guide you to the perfect spot for your Ganesha statue. Treat your Ganesh statue as you would any auspicious artefact. Honouring it with a position which favours the energies you want Ganesh to bring to the room.
Given his role as the creator of the universe, it is interesting to see the varying creation stories of Brahma himself. Brahma is one of the three gods of the Hindu Trimurti, alongside Shiva and Vishnu. Known as the Creator and therefore tasked with the creation of the universe. It was from here that Brahma formed the rest of the universe, including the earth and all its inhabitants.
